Write Your Why in One Line

In one sentence, state why you are building your personal brand: vanity, mission, money or a mix. Be honest. Nobody else needs to read it.

The Manifesto names three motives; knowing yours keeps you moving when results stall and tells you when your strategy needs to change.

How to Use the Tips

Read the day’s tip in the morning and do it before the week is out. Most take less than an hour. A few take a single conversation. None asks you to buy anything.

The tips are written to stand alone, so you can begin on any day. Taken in order, they move through the seven parts of a personal brand, and they return to each part often enough to become habits.

See Where to Start: The Identity Positioning™ Brand Audit

Twenty-five questions, about seven minutes, free. The audit scores your personal brand across five pillars and returns the three moves that would raise your score most.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Personal Branding Tips?

Three hundred sixty-five short, practical moves for building a personal brand, one for each day of the year. Each tip is something you can do this week, with the reason it works and the source it comes from.

Where do the tips come from?

From Isaac Mashman’s Personal Branding: A Manifesto on Fame and Influence, the Identity Positioning™ essay, the firm’s Doctrine Library, Isaac’s interviews on Chase the Vision, and the work of Eric Chow, Chief Operating Officer of Mashman Consulting Group. Every tip names its source.

How is the tip of the day chosen?

In order. Tip 1 leads the first day of the series, tip 2 the next, and so on through tip 365, and then the cycle begins again. The daily tip changes at midnight Central Time, and this address always opens it.

Can I share the tips?

Yes. Every tip page has its card as a square for feeds, a story and a wide image for links. Share them as they are, with the MCG mark and the address on the card, and link back to the tip when you can.

Are the tips the firm’s full method?

No. They are starting points, chosen to be useful on their own. The methods behind them are set out in the Manifesto and the Doctrine Library, and applied in full in an engagement with the firm.

Engagements

Your name is already being interpreted. The question is who are they, and what are they thinking?

Engagements are accepted by application and seats are limited each quarter. Tell us who you are, what you are building, and the position you intend to hold.

Consultations are virtual or in person. See what each includes, and what is asked of you: Virtual or In Person.

Speaking fees available on request. Speaking for non-profits and charities is free of charge. You can also email contact@mashmancg.com (opens in a new tab) directly, or play Identity Quest™ (opens in a new tab) first.
