The 4 Laws of Personal Branding
Chapter 2 of the Manifesto sets out four laws that build in order. Without familiarity there is no connection; without fame and influence, a personal brand has little reach or weight.
What The 4 Laws of Personal Branding Is
The laws are the Manifesto's account of why personal branding works at all. They are sequential: each depends on the one before it, which is why the order matters when you plan where to put your effort.
The fourth law is the one most people overlook. A personal brand is not something you decide to have; it exists from birth whether or not you direct it, and it outlives you.
As a person becomes more familiar with a subject through the use of their 5 senses, the more they naturally come to trust it.

The Four Laws, in Order
- The Law of FamiliarityFamiliarity, built through repeated exposure to the senses, naturally produces trust. Strangers become acquaintances and acquaintances become supporters.
- The Law of ConnectionShared commonality gives people a genuine reason to care. The more you connect emotionally, the deeper the resonance.
- The Law of Fame and InfluenceFame, the reach, and influence, the emotional sway, accelerate whatever is being pursued when they work together. Either one alone is limited.
- The Law of Personal BrandingA personal brand is innate and unavoidable. It exists from birth, and it cannot be destroyed, though it can be forgotten.
